The all new redesigned 11" Chase Bays Tucked Radiator is designed for those wanting to open up space in their crowded engine bays, improve cooling performance, & get a better look aesthetically (tucked). It can practically work for any engine swap or configuration you come up with. This radiator is a cooling upgrade, it offers more fluid capacity than stock, more direct airflow, & dual pass design. It's mounted under core support to open up 6" of space. This radiator has been rigorously track tested & is on countless show winning engine bays.
We've designed this all aluminum radiator to fill every bit of space under the core support while still being able to run 2 10” fans. This radiator requires some light cutting of front core support. We wanted to make the radiator as large as possible while staying under core support. To accomplish this we had to cut into chassis.
We've integrated a lot of features that no other competitor is offering. From fan sizing to modularity. We'll start at...
Fans
We've designed this all aluminum radiator to fill every bit of space under core support while still being able to run TWO Chase Bays 10" fans. Others are just offering two 8" fans. By increasing fan sizing you get 700 cfm's of extra cooling power!
Although there are many factors in keeping a car properly cooled, we'll assume you have all your bases covered (good water pump, no leaks, sufficient wiring, etc). It is important that each fan is on its own relay with proper sized wiring and that fill point is actually the highest point in the system. These 2 things are the most commonly overlooked. For this reason we make a Dual Fan Relay Harness with 180º F Thermoswitch that greatly simplifies the wiring (couldn't be easier).
Shroud?
We formerly sold our Radiator with a Fan Shroud, until June 2019. This was a great way to mount fans (Mounting fans directly to core will void your warranty and ruin the Radiator) and to increase cooling efficiency. The only problem is anything past 12mph...a shroud can actually restrict flow. We changed to fan brackets built into the radiator and no complete covering shroud. This decreased the price $175 dollars AND increased cooling efficiency. =O
Modular Inlet/Outlet and Reversible Orientation
We have designed radiator to be completely reversible with interchangeable inlet/outlet types. Radiator inlet & outlet have to be on same side since it's a dual pass design. Formerly when you purchased a radiator through us you would have to select driver or passenger side. With our new design the radiator orientation is completely reversible. It looks the same on top & bottom & brackets are centered.
The inlet & outlet are -20AN female threads. So we install whichever adapters you need. If you change your mind down the road, there's no cutting & welding. Just threading on new adapters. We offer OE style 1.38", -16AN & -20AN. We recommend you put radiator inlet/outlet closer to upper water neck since that hose will more visible.
We do NOT recommend -16AN for high power setups! (400hp & up) Stock inner diameter of hose for Honda's is usually 1.38" / 35mm. -16AN is 1" & -20AN is 1.25" By going w/ -16AN, you're creating a restriction that's normally not there & reducing flow by 34%.
Fill Point
Since top of our radiator sits about 8" to 12" lower than stock, we have to make a new fill point. First step is getting an inline filler neck, luckily you can get that through us.. Click here for Chase Bays Raised Modular Filler Neck.
The way you setup filler neck will make your hose selection easier. Our personal favorite is on radiator itself using Raised Inline Filler Neck. We've attached photo of this below. To do this just select -20AN for one side of Chase Bays Filler Neck when selecting options. Other side will be whatever hoses you choose to go with. So if you're using OE Push-On style Silicone Hoses, you'd select "1.38mm Normal Hose" for one option & "-20AN" for other, -20AN side will thread right into radiator then you'll twist filler neck onto that. With thick O-Ring Seal on both sides, getting filler neck 0º vertical is easy with adjustment of both sides:
The other option is putting it on upper water neck which will require some fabrication work.
Hoses
Factory hoses don't work. We piece together silicone hose bends w/ small joining couplers & use Gates Heat Shrink Clamps for a seamless install. We've been drifting our E36 non stop w/ no issues with this. Click here to set your hoses up.
Dual Pass Design
This simply means coolant passes through TWO times instead of ONE. Which, even more simply put means TWICE the cooling & half the size. Both inlets are on same side of radiator & a plate is welded inside between the two inlets. Radiator has two L brackets on each side that you bolt to core support. This radiator doesn't use any of OEM radiator mounting points, & it's easier to install & un-install.
Pressure Tested
Each radiator is water pressure tested to 40psi. Your radiator shouldn’t see more than 16-19psi before the radiator cap spring does its job & expands into overflow.
