Reservoir Mounting for E46 PS kits with BMW Engines:
Use the supplied Reservoir and Mounting Bracket Shim in the OEM Reservoir Mounting Bracket. This mounting bracket is found either on the engine mount bracket or the engine itself depending on the application.
You will insert the Chase Bays Reservoir with the Mounting Bracket Shim placed around the middle of the Reservoir. The gap of the Mounting Shim is for the threaded mounting hole portion of the Reservoir.

Reservoir Mounting for E46 PS kits with 1JZ, 2JZ, or LS Engine Swaps:
Use the supplied Reservoir and Aluminum Mounting Bracket to mount to the driver side strut tower. Included in the threaded holes of the Reservoir, use the 2x M8 bolts to attach the Reservoir to the Mounting Bracket. Then mount the bracket to the strut tower using self-sourced hardware.

Inline Power Steering Cooler Mounting for E46 PS kits:
Use the supplied Inline Power Steering Cooler and corresponding L & R Mounting Brackets. Mount the Power Steering Cooler using the supplied Power Steering Cooler Brackets and countersunk M8 hardware. It will be mounted under the subframe using the existing Steering Rack bolt locations. Attach the Cooler to the Cooler Brackets with the M8 hardware so that the slots are lined up on the same plane (both bent brackets are oriented the same on the cooler body). The bracket labeled L will go on the left of the car, and the R will go on the right side. Loosen both of the rack bolts, slide in the R angled slot bracket, then rotate the cooler to slide on the L bracket's straight slot. Re-tighten both rack bolts to mount the cooler.
Some Steering Rack bolts for E36's and E46's might be too short to re-use with the addition of the cooler brackets due to BMW's rack casting and subframe variants. In some instances, your bolts might need to be replaced with longer ones. We do not yet know the differences in models to determine which racks will or will not need longer bolts.

If you are only installing a High Pressure Line for any of these applications, please refer to STEP 2 of ALL engine specific instructions.
BMW E46 with M52TU or M54 (CB-E46-M54PSK)
1. The first line in the kit will be the Pump Feed line. This line will be the largest in diameter and should be about 20" long. You will connect the line to the 90˚ fitting (the larger of the two fittings) on the bottom of the reservoir. The straight fitting end of the line will attach to the supplied Pump Feed Adapter. This fitting will be installed to the barb on the pump by loosing the 'nut' enough so the o-ring seal end can be pushed onto the barb. Once installed, tighten the nut into the fitting, and install the straight end of the Pump Feed Line to the fitting. Final tighten both the 90˚ and straight ends once ends are installed to the respective locations.
2. Next, will be the High Pressure line. This line will be shiny compared to the rest and will have the Chase Bays logo on it. You will connect the end with the 90˚ fitting on it to the pump using the supplied 16mm Crush Washer adapter fitting. The straight end of that line will be connected to the High Pressure Port on the steering rack using the supplied 14mm Crush Washer adapter fitting.
3. The last line will be the rack to reservoir return line. This line should be about 11" long with a straight fitting at one end and a 90˚ fitting at the other end. You will connect the straight end to the low pressure port on the rack using the supplied 16mm Crush Washer adapter fitting. The 90˚ end will then be connected to the smaller fitting on the bottom of the Power Steering Reservoir.
4. Once you have everything plumbed you will need to bleed the system. This is accomplished by jacking up the front of the vehicle so that the front wheels are not making contact with the ground. Fill the Reservoir halfway full with the fluid of your choice and go ahead and start the vehicle. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock for 5-10 minutes or until there are no bubbles visible in the reservoir. Make sure to keep an eye on the fluid level and top it off as needed during the bleeding process, keeping the Reservoir half full.
The last step is to put the car back on the ground and take it for a drive long enough to get the power steering fluid up to operating temperature. Then park the vehicle and allow it to cool back to ambient temperature. This will bleed off any residual air that may be in the system.
BMW E46 with M52TU or M54 with Power Steering Cooler (CB-E36-M54PSK-PSC)

5. The last line will be the cooler to reservoir line. That line should be about 24" long and have a 90 degree fitting on one end and a 180 degree fitting on the other end. You will connect the 180 degree end to the passenger side of the cooler and the 90 degree end to the smaller fitting on the bottom of the Power Steering Reservoir.
6. Once you have everything plumbed you will need to bleed the system. This is accomplished by jacking up the front of the vehicle so that the front wheels are not making contact with the ground. Fill the Reservoir halfway full with the fluid of your choice and go ahead and start the vehicle. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock for 5-10 minutes or until there are no bubbles visible in the reservoir. Make sure to keep an eye on the fluid level and top it off as needed during the bleeding process, keeping the Reservoir half full.
The last step is to put the car back on the ground and take it for a drive long enough to get the power steering fluid up to operating temperature. Then park the vehicle and allow it to cool back to ambient temperature. This will bleed off any residual air that may be in the system.

Important! This kit requires the use of a GM LS Power Steering Pump that uses a Remote Mount Reservoir. This is commonly found on the C5 Corvette (1997-2004). There are hundreds, if not thousands, of LS based accessory drive components that are interchangeable - we picked this one due to it's common availability and compatibility with our kit's components.
Before installing any portion of the kit, we will start by removing the factory Pump Feed Adapter from the OE Power Steering Pump. Using a pair of pliers, remove the OE pump barb. This can be difficult as the barb is taper fit into the pump itself. Take your time and be careful with the pump itself while doing this. Depending on your setup, it might be easier to remove the barb and install our Pump Feed Adapter adapter to the pump by removing it from the engine.

Once fully installed, attach both ends to the Pump Feed Adapter and Reservoir fitting, then tighten them both.
